Why we built it
PSW students study from thick textbooks and photocopied handouts, then walk into a certification exam that asks them to make judgment calls about real clients. The gap between reading a chapter and answering “what should the PSW do first?” is where people lose marks.
Every question here is a scenario, because that is how the exam thinks. Every answer comes with a rationale explaining not just why the right answer is right, but why each wrong answer is tempting and wrong.
How the content is organized
Our study categories mirror the subjects of the Ontario PSW program outline — PSW Foundations, Safety and Mobility, Body Systems, Personal Hygiene, Abuse and Neglect, Household Management and Nutrition, Care Planning and Documentation, Assisting the Family, Assisting the Dying Person, Assisting with Medication, Cognitive and Mental Health, Health Conditions, and Gentle Persuasive Approaches — plus Infection Prevention and Control, which is taught across several subjects and tested throughout.
The full-length mock exam is weighted by the instruction hours your program actually allocates to each subject, so practising here reflects where the real exam puts its weight.
How questions are written
Content is written to current Ontario practice standards: routine practices terminology, the line between assisting with and administering medication, least-restraint law, mandatory reporting duties, and the observe-and-report scope that defines the role.
All material is original. We consult curriculum outlines and standard reference texts to decide what to cover, and never reproduce their text.
What we are not
We are an independent study resource. We are not a college, we do not issue certificates, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by the National Association of Career Colleges or any regulatory body. Your program and your regulator remain the authority on what you need to know and how you get certified.
Nothing here is medical advice or a substitute for your employer's policies, your care plans, or direction from a regulated health professional.
